God has called us to train and teach believers about prophecy, and how to minister in love to build up God’s people. God is pouring out His Spirit on all flesh (Joel 2:28-29) as His return is at hand (Rev. 22:12), and we believe that the correct understanding of prophetic ministry and exercise in the gift of prophecy are crucial in the church.
Bible teaches us to prophesy to benefit the church more than any other gifts. I Corinthians 14:1 says “Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.” God urges us to seek the gift of prophecy because prophetic ministry can greatly encourage the body of Christ.
Why? Prophetic ministry is about knowing Jesus. Revelation 19:10 says that “the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." A person entrusted specifically with prophetic ministry is led to spend time with the Lord at His feet more than any other activity or function because what the person sees, hears, understands of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. All believers should and can prophesy. And also, the church should recognize the specific calling on individuals as “prophet” and prophetic office as the Lord reveals to us. It is our job as a church to help one another with a call as a prophet to mature and grow properly as the Bible instructs us.
It is our prayer and desire to see the body of Christ to excel in gift of prophecy as Paul advised the Corinthian church: “So it is with you. Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church.” (1 Corinthians 14:12)
