The Making of a Prophet

         Holy Spirit Character School

Gifts come by faith; character is grown as fruit by the Holy Spirit

a)   Brokenness as a preparation for the gold

2Co 4:6 “ For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

2Co 4:7  But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”

Humility

Teachability

Fallability

2) The School of Offense

Offense will cause “angry spirits” to filter through messages, making it unreceivable.

Luk 17:1 “ Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!

Luk 17:2  It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.”

1)     Do not allow offense in your heart

2)     Do not cause offense

Results:  Bitterness and Anger

An angry prophet can cause grave offense and defilement

Heb 12:15  “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled”

Rejection:  The is the root of fear of man and people-pleasing.

Examples of obedience to God:

We must be willing to carry God's burden and represent Him, even if unpopular.

Overcoming fear, rejection and loneliness

God’s acceptance and approval is all you need.

Psa 73:25 “ Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

Psa 73:26  My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.”

Mentoring or discipleship has always been a primary means of training as promoted in

Examples: Elisha (by Elijah), Samuel (by Eli) and Moses (by Jethro);

Jesus, John the Baptist, Paul

Great commission (Matt. 28:19-20) tells us to do it.)

One of the New Testament mandates for 5-fold ministers is that of being equippers or trainers.

"And He Himself gave some to be ... prophets, ... for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,"

 Eph 4:11-12. Scripture tells us that we can and should be equipped for

ministry by existing leaders.

b)  Inheriting mantles

“If you have not been faithful in what is another man's, who will give you what is your own?" Luke 16:10a,12

As an apprentice we are called to give ourselves to serve our mentor’s needs.

Examples:………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………...         .

            In exchange, we receive training, character formation and impartation of anointing (sometimes double as in Elisha's case).

Elisha - under authority,  he inherited authority;
